Stay in Play Grant Can Help Young Athletes Keep Playing
For some young athletes, the biggest obstacle to continuing in sports isn’t motivation—it’s the cost. The Luka Dončić Foundation’s Stay in Play program is designed to help.
The Stay in Play program provides one-year, needs-based grants of up to $25,000 to eligible young athletes to help cover expenses that can make it difficult to stay involved in their sport. Funds may be used for expenses such as club or program fees, coaching and training, equipment, and travel to compete or train.
Who Can Apply?
For the 2026 program, applicants must:
Be 12–15 years old when applying
Have participated in their chosen sport for at least six months
Be enrolled in school and in good academic standing
Live in the United States or one of the other countries currently included in the program
Not be under a professional or commercial sponsorship
Have a parent or guardian initiate the application
You don’t have to be the best player or have a collection of trophies to apply. The Foundation says it is looking for athletes who are committed to their sport and want to keep playing but need support to do so.
Applications Are Open
Applications are open through August 20, 2026. A parent or guardian starts the application, followed by an athlete application and a recommendation from a teacher, coach, or mentor.
If you know an ODR athlete who might benefit, share this opportunity with their family.
